I’ve been a passionate writer and creator for decades. Below are links to a wide variety of written and printed projects I’m proud of or at the very least help showcase and organize the diversity of my body of work. CURRENTLY: I’m actively working on a wide variety of other new creative writing projects that excite me, including going into query with a YA gothic comedy novel late this year.

Fiction Books

Dodgefall

My first ever independent release, Dodgefall is a queer novella that will melt your cold, dead heart.

ABOUT DODGEFALL: Samuel loved living in DC for a variety of reasons as a Midwest transplant: there was always a networking event to attend, his job was fast and fulfilling, and it was often fun to treat the dating landscape like an overstuffed buffet. Joining an adult kickball league was supposed to give him a reason to rub elbows with political staffers and nonprofit big-wigs, but he didn’t anticipate it would lead to an unexpected date with Coach Easton. And nothing could have prepared either of them after an awkward invitation to return to Samuel’s hometown for an ex-boyfriend’s wedding after just knowing each other for a few weeks. Can these two learn to play well together on and off the field when the balls go flying?

OUT OF PRINT, 2023

What was your favorite story as a child? What house, village, forest, or planet did you escape to in your daydreams? We’ve all got those books that shaped us, whose characters we knew better than some of the real people in our lives, whose histories we could recite by heart. These worlds we escaped to, that we shared with other fans - these are the basis of this collection. We hope you find one of your own touchstones scattered among these gems in the Nonbinary Review’s 267th Issue Shared Worlds.

I’m part of this esteemed work of collected fiction, with my short story “The Cobbler of Oz”. A playful tale about the maker of those magical shoes once famously worn by the Wicked Witch of the East and then Dorothy. What happens when Munchkin Cobbler Obo and his beloved wife Soobi are thrust into immediate chaos, worried that their secrets will come unraveled now that a very private customer’s shoes are in the hands of a mysterious and murderous young lady from Kansas. A fun, quirky story that will delight and surprise readers who loved both the Wizard of Oz books and movies alike.

Six Feet Apart Anthology Book Cover.jpg

Six Feet Apart is The Writers Group’s sixth installment in a dynasty that surpasses five years of dedication and thousands of hours of training, collaboration, and, of course, writing. Dive into personal accounts of COVID isolation, fictional stories for the curious or the wary, and plenty of poetry for the quiet souls among us. No single genre defines The Writers Group, and, just like the virus itself, we’re not leaving anytime soon.

I contributed part of an experimental, quirky, darkly comedic short story called Death, Inc.: and the Unanticipated Adventures of Winifred Fox a fantastic tale about lil Winifred Fox who tragically and publicly dies in the middle of her middle school band concert, only to learn she’s part of a long line of Grim Reapers, tasked with taking up the universal duty of ushering folks to their final destinations in the boring and bureaucratic Thereafter. Will Winifred dare take this insane job that’s likely better suited for adults? Will Daisey, Winifred’s HR representative in the Thereafter, be up to the task of onboarding and training her for success? Will the omnipotent Narrator ever stop being so snarky and unkind when telling Winifred’s tale? And why isn’t poor lil ‘Fred adjusting to the 5D environment like everyone else?

I guess you’ll have to buy a copy of the anthology to find out! I promise my contribution, among all the other 20 authors, won’t disappoint!

Representation matters. Visibility matters. Pride matters.

This is why Gaingels, a leading venture investment syndicate in service of the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies, created the book, Gaingels 100, an inspiring collection of profiles of LGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs and founders from around the world.

I had the honor and privilege to interview and write the profiles for over 60 of the folks featured in the book. Ben’s Poetry Depository

Writing a poem a day during November of 2020 reignited my passion for writing casual poetry. So I decided to carve out a little space on my website to share some of the things I’ve written if you were looking to be tickled or taunted by whatever is knocking around my head these days.

The 35 Year Old Alcohol Virgin

For 35 years I never tried or drank alcohol, so in 2012, I took the entire year to try over 200 alcoholic drinks—beers, wines, cocktails, shots, and other alcoholic oddities—for the very first time, writing about each drink, place and experience. It was one wild, humorous ride for the ages.
